Carpenter's cloak

A simple, classic medieval accessory for the everyman. While modern trends favor front closing cloaks, side closing cloaks were immensely popular throughout history. Buttons at the shoulder like this were particularly popular in the late 14th century. While not quite as warm, wearing a cloak with an open shoulder left one arm completely free, making them favorable while working. Cut from wool twill in a sandy beige, trimmed with twill ribbon, and closed with hand made ball buttons in the same fabric for a clean and accessible style. The neck is on the smaller side, around 18".
